Home to the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center, Pikes Peak, and endless open spaces, Colorado Springs is a city for getting active. Now, the William J. Hybl Sports Medicine and Performance Center is helping Colorado Springs further its reputation as a world-renowned athletic powerhouse. Built out of a unique partnership between the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) and nonprofit healthcare leader, Centura Health, the Hybl Center brings together a cutting-edge sports medicine clinic, innovative academic classrooms and top-notch sports performance programming all in one 60,000-square-foot facility.Within the complex, which is located off North Nevada Avenue, certified Centura Health Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, and Sports Performance Specialists plus knowledgeable UCCS professors are all working together to help athletes perform better and recover faster through detailed assessments and proper care. “What we do isn't about checking boxes, it's about the human element,” says Hybl Center staff doctor, Kevin Lesh. “We have to make sure we're doing what's best for athletes, in any situation.”Whether a Hybl Center client is gearing up for their first 5K, wants to improve their golf swing, or has a goal to tackle Mt. Everest, they can find specific training programs built just for them, then begin using unique tools like an Altitude Chamber and an anti-gravity, Load-Reducing Treadmill to correct issues and improve performance. “When we’re training our athletes, we know how to train them the right way,” says Sports Performance Specialist Lead, Alison Regal. “We understand movement and there’s a lot of value in that.” But these tools and training programs aren’t just for elite competitors. Athletes of all strides, from weekend warriors to recreational enthusiasts, can use the Hybl Center to achieve more. Learn about fall programming and get moving by visiting www.HyblCenter.org.
