Fishing on the Arkansas River
In 2014, 102 miles of the Arkansas River received the Gold Medal trout fishing designation by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission. In order to receive this award, the river has exceeded the requirements of having a minimum trout standing stock of 60 lbs. per acre as well as a minimum of 12 quality trout (larger than 14 inches) per acre. Meaning that this portion of the Arkansas River has exceptional trout fishing! Local outfitters offer guided fly fishing excursions, equipment rentals and more.
